This checklist was designed to assist you step by step through the showing process.  It is not all-inclusive, so we also highly recommend reading through the entire registration packet.

If you are unsure of which classes to enter your ferret in please read about Ferret Classifications here.

All information below is generously provided by GFSOE.  Please familiarize yourself with this information before proceeding to register your ferret.
Preparing Your Ferret for a Show

Ferrets who are healthy, well-groomed, clean, and have personality tend to achieve higher scores in contests. A few tips to consider are:
  • 1. Before the show
    • Clean your ferret’s ears thoroughly
    • Trim your ferret’s nails
    • If required, have your Vet clean their teeth
    • Maintain your ferrets at a healthy weight
  • 2. Items to bring to the show
    • Nail trimmer
    • Q-Tips & ear cleaner
    • Soft bristle brush
    • Moistened wipes
  • 3. At the show
    • Brush your ferret’s fur to give it a soft appearance.
    • Periodically check their ears for wax buildup.
    • Clean their paws and buttocks before judging.
On the showing card, in the owner comments section, make comments relevant to your ferret, (i.e. ferret is deaf, tends to nip or bite, showing for the first time, etc.) This will aid judges in their evaluation of your ferret.
